Sinusitis information and request

Sinusitis refers to the inflammation of the sinuses, typically resulting from an infection. It is a prevalent condition that often resolves spontaneously within four weeks. However, medications may be beneficial if the symptoms persist for an extended period.

What are the symptoms?

The main symptoms of sinusitis include:

  • pain, swelling and tenderness around your cheeks, eyes or forehead
  • a blocked or runny nose
  • a reduced sense of smell
  • green or yellow mucus from your nose
  • a high temperature

Other symptoms include:

  • a headache
  • toothache
  • bad breath
  • a cough
  • a feeling of pressure in the ears

What are the non medicinal treatment options?

  • Steam inhalation – breathing in steam from a bowl of hot water or during a hot shower can help loosen mucus and ease congestion.
  • Saline rinses – using a saline spray or a neti pot with sterile/distilled water can flush out mucus and irritants from the sinuses.
  • Warm compresses – applying a warm towel or compress across your face (nose, cheeks, eyes) can reduce pressure and discomfort.
  • Hydration – drinking plenty of fluids helps thin mucus, making it easier for the sinuses to drain.
  • Humidifier – keeping indoor air moist may prevent sinus passages from drying out and becoming irritated.
  • Elevating the head – sleeping with your head raised can encourage drainage and reduce congestion.
  • Rest and relaxation – giving your body time to recover supports your immune system in fighting inflammation.

What is Avamys Nasal Spray?

Avamys Nasal Spray is classified as a glucocorticoid and functions by reducing inflammation associated with seasonal allergies. It alleviates symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including a runny nose, sneezing, and sinus pressure. The spray operates by inhibiting the production of specific chemical signals that trigger inflammation and allergic reactions, thereby easing discomfort and irritation in the nasal passages.

How do I use Avamys Nasal Spray?

Dosage for 12 years and above: Two sprays in each nostril once a day

Avamys may start to take effect within 8 to 24 hours following the initial dose. Nevertheless, it may require several days of consistent treatment to reach its maximum efficacy. Optimal results are attained by using AVAMYS daily without any missed doses.
