Introduction
About Imigran 50mg tablets
Imigran is branded sumatriptan, a triptan used to treat the symptoms of migraine, not the underlying cause of why migraines happen. Triptans interact with specific receptors in the brain and can ease migraine pain as well as associated symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light or sound.
Take one tablet when your migraine starts. If symptoms improve, wait at least 2 hours before taking a second dose. Treatment is only supplied after a UK-registered clinician reviews your consultation.

Benefits
Why people consider Imigran
Imigran is the branded form of sumatriptan. Where clinically appropriate, it can ease an established migraine attack when taken at the start of symptoms.
Branded sumatriptan
Imigran contains sumatriptan, the same active triptan used in generic 50mg tablets.
Treats migraine symptoms
Taken when a migraine starts to ease pain and related symptoms — not as daily prevention.
Clear dosing schedule
One tablet at onset; if it helps, wait at least 2 hours before a second dose. Maximum usually 2 doses in 24 hours.
Clinician review before supply
Every request is checked against your migraine history, medicines and safety information before a prescription is issued.
Eligibility
Who Imigran may be for
Imigran is considered for selected adults with migraine after a clinical review. It is not suitable for everyone, especially people with certain heart or circulation problems.
May be suitable if
- You have migraines that have been diagnosed or clearly described to a clinician
- You prefer the branded Imigran presentation of sumatriptan 50mg
- You can take one tablet at the start of an attack and follow the 2-hour gap before a second dose if needed
- You understand the maximum is usually 2 doses in 24 hours
May not be suitable if
- You have a history of heart attack, stroke, uncontrolled high blood pressure or other conditions a clinician considers unsafe with triptans
- You are allergic to sumatriptan, Imigran or other triptans
- You need urgent care for a sudden severe headache unlike your usual migraine
- You want daily prevention rather than treatment of attacks
A clinician decides whether treatment is appropriate. Completing a consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
