Purpose of our content
We publish treatment information, process pages and pharmacy advice so you can understand how a private consultation works and what a medicine is generally used for. Content on treatments and the blog is educational. It does not decide whether a medicine is right for you.
A prescription is only issued after a UK-registered clinician reviews your own answers. That process is described in the Prescription Policy.
Who writes and reviews content
Health pages are prepared for Private Pharmacy Care and reviewed by UK-registered pharmacists on the clinical team. Named pharmacists, qualifications and GPhC numbers are published on Our Pharmacists.
Reviewers check that claims match the cited sources, that safety information is not overstated or omitted, and that the page does not promise a prescription.
Sources we use
Where a page discusses a medicine or condition, we rely on recognised UK sources rather than marketing copy. Typical sources include:
- NHS.uk condition and medicine pages
- NICE guidance and Clinical Knowledge Summaries
- BNF / BNFC and the electronic medicines compendium (SmPC and patient information leaflets)
- MHRA safety alerts and product information
- GPhC professional standards where the page describes pharmacy process
If a treatment page lists sources, those links should point to the official publication, not to a rewritten summary.
What this content is not
- It is not a diagnosis.
- It is not a personal treatment recommendation.
- It is not an NHS service or an emergency service. For urgent symptoms use NHS 111 or A&E.
- It does not override the decision of the prescriber who reviews your consultation.
Commercial context
Private Pharmacy Care is a registered pharmacy. We may supply medicines described on this website if a prescriber decides they are suitable for you. Pages can include prices or product options. That commercial interest must not change the clinical facts we publish, and it never guarantees that a request will be approved.
Updates and corrections
We review health pages when guidance changes, when a medicine’s licence or safety information changes, or when a reader flags an error. Policy pages show a last-updated date. Treatment pages are updated as part of routine clinical content review.
